Mo Farah defends European Indoor title
Paris, 5th March 2011 - Mo Farah (GBR) defended his European Indoor 3000m title with a time of 7:53.00 in Paris. The Alberto Salazar coached athlete hit the front after a slow first kilometre (2:52) and gradually wound up the pace to stretch his rivals. The second kilometre was 2:34 and with a 2:26 last kilometre the Londoner was too strong for the field despite a strong challenge from Hayle Ibrahimov on the final lap. After the race Farah told reporters,"It was tough - I had to work for it. I knew Hayle was a danger. I had to dig deep and work my way through. But as an athlete this is what you train for." After the race Farah announced that his next race would be the New York Half Marathon on May 20th.
